Engineering the Future: The BNC Professorship in Engineering Science Brandeis National Committee's new multi-year campaign will raise money for the BNC Professorship in Engineering Sciences and make it possible to hire a faculty member for Brandeis' new interdepartmental engineering degree program. This long-awaited program will grant a bachelor's of science in engineering and provide students with the essential skills to think like engineers, and design solutions to complex problems. Engineering students at Brandeis have already begun making the world a better place. In their inaugural course, they designed innovative solutions like robotic prosthetic limbs and accessible silverware for individuals with tremors. With your support, we envision a future where our engineering program continues to cultivate conscientious and skilled engineers who will tackle the challenges of tomorrow. If you want to include testimonials, please use one or both of the following, or write one of your own: "I'm a retired engineer with a traditional education in electrical engineering. The Brandeis Engineering Science program is different. It's interdisciplinary. It's inclusive. That's why my wife, Judy, and I are supporting the BNC Professorship in Engineering Science. When BNC meets its $3 million goal, Brandeis will be able to hire a top professor to join the engineering science faculty in a secure, tenured position." Leith Balletin, BNC Phoenix Chapter Rather than constructing a new building to house a separate engineering program, Brandeis will use the money we raise to put in place a tenured professor in a new engineering program that will be part of the liberal arts curriculum. Current Brandeis students have grown up with the STEM concepts that are fundamental to elementary and secondary school programs throughout the country. Now they will have the unique opportunity to take engineering courses that stress problem solving and critical thinking, creating career pathways that will enable them to change the world for the better. Once again, BNC is making it possible to place Brandeis University on the cutting edge of college education.
